Aims & Scope

OpenMind Journal of Humanities, Arts & Creative Studies publishes rigorous, original and accessible scholarship that advances understanding across the arts, humanities, criticism and literary studies. We welcome interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research that engages with theory, history, textual analysis, cultural practice, creative-critical methods, and digital humanities. Contributions are welcomed from established scholars and emerging researchers worldwide.

Typical topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Literary studies, comparative literature, and translation studies
  • Cultural studies, visual culture, film and media studies
  • Philosophy, critical theory and aesthetics
  • History of art, musicology and performance studies
  • Digital humanities, archival studies and public humanities
  • Interdisciplinary essays bridging arts, social theory and pedagogy

Article types accepted: Original research articles, review articles, essays, critical commentaries, book reviews, case studies and special-issue contributions. See Author Instructions for word limits and formatting.

Editorial Approach & Quality Assurance

We are committed to high editorial standards and transparent processes. Key points:

  • Default double-blind peer review to reduce bias (authors should anonymize manuscripts). See the Peer Review & Editorial Policy for full details.
  • Initial editorial triage for scope, ethical compliance and minimum quality checks.
  • Plagiarism and similarity screening on all submissions.
  • Data availability and reproducibility requirements — include Data Availability Statement and deposit data in Zenodo when possible.
  • Clear correction and retraction processes in accordance with our Ethics & Integrity Policy.

APCs, Waivers & Funding

The Article Processing Charge for accepted articles in this journal is USD 200. Waivers and partial discounts are available for authors from eligible low-income economies and for authors with demonstrated financial need. APCs are invoiced only after formal acceptance.
